A few days ago I posted some doubts I was having about the Cogent-Telia depeering, specifically whether the networks were still able to talk via some transit path as reported by Renesys. When I made the post I knew that I was being lazy, not bothering to look at all of the data. But the folks at Backbone News were not so lazy, and they used the BGPlay tool to visualize the outage for us all. Then, this morning I saw that Renesys posted some further analysis on their blog explaining what might have happened with traffic transiting Verizon AS701. Good stuff, covering for my earlier slack.
